Description

Scene of Jesus accompanied by Mary and St. Joseph, preaching to six doctors, against a geometric background. To the left and center of the composition are six elderly doctors, seated facing each other, two in the foreground and the other four further back, all with beards and wearing long tunics; the two in front are wearing sandals with straps between the toes. To the right of center is Jesus, still a boy, sitting in profile to the left with a halo around his head, wearing a long tunic and sandals with straps between the toes. His arms are stretched forward, horizontally, with open hands; further to the right, behind Jesus, the figure of St. Joseph, standing in profile to the left, also wearing a long tunic and sandals with straps between the toes; to his right, the figure of Mary with her face 3/4 turned to the left with a cloth on her head, Mary's body is covered by the figure of Jesus and St. Joseph. The background is geometric in small colored squares, as is the ground on which the figures are standing.
