Composition representing the arrival of the Portuguese royal family to Salvador, seeing is huge procession near the port where they are anchored caravels. In the foreground, on the left and center, group of people forming two huge rows in perspective for background. None of the people have the facial features; on the left in front of one of the queues sees Bahia front with board on the head and two 3/4 back men facing right looking towards the three figures standing in the front row, in the center of the composition, which are John, D. Carlota Joaquina and Dom Pedro.
