Description
Composition in green tones, earthy, ochre, blue, rose and white. Smooth, thick texture in some areas. Composition representing wall with big gate to center, hills in the background, against blue sky. In the center of the area of the composition, painted rose brick entrance, sold for arch covered with tiles and wooden gate with lattice, painted green. On each side of the entrance there is a vine from which spring rose and white flowers. The short wall where the input is low is inserted, painted in ochre and sold for tiles. In the foreground, in front of the short wall, suggesting low vegetation grass. In the background two hills: the on the left is the ground tone and appears to be without vegetation while the on the right is green. Sky with clouds suggestion.

Historical Info
The composition depicts the gate at the entrance to the country home located at Estrada dos Três Rios 1801 in Jacarepaguá, Rio de Janeiro [AFRH 772]. The property belonged to José Mariano Filho, brother of the poet Olegário Mariano, who was Portinari’s friend early in his career. The artist often went there for Sunday lunch.
