Notes Collection
The story goes that César Lattes told the artist about a childhood incident that had left a lasting impression: his brother had asked their father, a hunter and gun enthusiast, if his shotgun was loaded; when he said no, César's older brother picked it up, at which time the gun fired, startling the boys terribly. Portinari drew the scene and gave the work to César Lattes as a gift.
