To the left and in front, man standing, nearly edge-on to the right and holding hoe; a little more to the right and further back, front woman carrying basket on his head; the center and in front, Profile man on the left, tilted; further back, front man, carrying what would be a circular stone over the on the right shoulder; on the right of center, another worker holding long stick and on the right, one last worker, profile on the left. The men suggest be naked and have defined facial features. Chiaroscuro areas cross the composition.
