Children of Brodowski Series
description
Em 1946 Portinari spends January and February in Brodowski. During these months, he makes a series of drawings of the children in his home town, the Children of Brodowski Series. These drawings, in oil on cardboard, present Portinari with new technical challenges. He comments: "It’s really oil, and it fixes perfectly. The hard part technically is that you can’t make any corrections. The process is similar to tempera and fresco, and even stiletto heated over wax, like with etchings. It’s based on improvisation! We have to make the best of everything, even the accidental mistakes. As you can see, it’s a new area I’m starting to explore".
