description
One set and costume were created by Portinari. Ballet presented by the Ballet of the IV Centenary of São Paulo at the Municipal Theater of Rio de Janeiro in 1954 and in São Paulo, only in 1955. Choreography: Aurélio M. Milloss; Music: J. S. Bach, O. Respighi orchestra; main performer: Edith Pudelko. Ballet of the IV Centenary - history: São Paulo would celebrate its fourth centenary in 1954 and several businessmen from São Paulo decided to found the Ballet of the IV Centenary company. As the majority of these businessmen were Italians, or descendants, they brought Aurel Milloss from Italy to direct and organize the company, in 1953 (LAG240, p.72). The 16 ballets created by Aurel Milloss were only seen in their entirety in Rio de Janeiro. Due to administrative and political problems, they were presented at Teatro Santana and not at Teatro Municipal de São Paulo, hindering the production of larger plays.
