Portraits of 1932 Architecture Graduates from the School of Fine Arts
description
In 1932, when he finished his Architecture course at the University of the Federal District, Alcides Rocha Miranda suggested that the 36 graduates pose at an appointment for Portinari to portray them in his studio, on Rua Teotônio Regadas, in Lapa. The graphite drawings would be mounted on a single passepartout with a thin steel frame, as opposed to the formal painting with an allegory painted by an academic painter as was used until then. Many posed, but not all went to get the portraits (source: Alcides Rocha Miranda).
