The mosaic panel entitled Jesus among Doctors measures 4.50 x 3.70 meters and was meticulously created between 2006 and 2009 by renowned artist Isabel Ruas, from the Oficina de Mosaicos. This remarkable work of art has been installed in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, located on the campus of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio).
The project, which had the valuable sponsorship of Banco Itaú, was carried out under the coordination of Father Pedro Magalhães Guimarães Ferreira, advised by engineer Maurício Oliveira, and with the technical coordination of researcher Noélia Coutinho, a member of the Portinari Project.
The glass tiles used to make up the panel were imported from Venice, requiring essential strategies for the acquisition, transportation and import process over the years. One notable aspect is that the panel is supported by an aluminum beehive, making it easy to move in the future, if necessary.
Since its inauguration, the panel has stood out as an artistic reference point on PUC-Rio campus, contributing to artistic expression and appreciation in the university community.
