The partnership, which began in 2004, lasted until 2008 and had as its main objective the implementation of the continuing education course 'Introduction to the Study of Brazilian Culture', offered by the Portinari Project to teachers and community leaders associated with pre-university entrance exams in underprivileged communities in Greater Rio. A total of 110 students took part in the course, receiving a certificate issued by PUC at the end.
In this program, we arranged guided visits to exhibitions presented in cultural centers and museums in Rio de Janeiro. Over the course of the year, six exhibitions of the 'Brazil by Portinari' project were held in the places where these teachers and community leaders work. In addition, teachers and university students from the communities themselves were trained to work as monitors at the exhibitions. These people played a fundamental role in guiding visitors and conducting educational activities with the student groups.
