The Italian Embassy in Brasilia hosted the 'Portinari: an illustrator' exhibition from March 15 to 27, 2022. The Portinari Project brought together 28 prints from different stages of the artist's life in the Nervi Room, created using different techniques, including a portrait of his father, Christmas cards, a print of the famous painting Retirantes and others. Other works were also on display, illustrations from the books Posthumous Memoirs of Braz Cubas and The Alienist, by Machado de Assis. To top the exhibition off, a panel brought together eight engravings from the book Menino de engenho, a classic by José Lins do Rego.
