The face is seen only part of the nose and on the left cheek. In the background, on the left of center, a kind of square suggesting that the defendant's bench with figure sketched standing in profile to the right; further to the right, three figures also outlined seated as if they were hearing the defendant. Bottom and sides of the support around the judge filled by intersecting straight lines contrasting with the central area of the composition that is clear.
