Description
Composition in blue tones, green, yellow, red, ochre, earthy, rose, gray and lilac. Rough texture, marked strokes. Representation of three tenants within a cocoa plantation perspective view. Two of the men have represented skin shade of red and the three have poorly defined facial features. In the foreground, center, man standing in front with slightly leaning forward and lowered trunk. Blue Safe basket upside down where nine cocoa fall gourds. Wears off and loose long sleeve jacket, in shades of blue, rose, gray and ochre. The pants are burgundy and the length is up to the crotch. Megs apart, bare feet. On the left, crouching man in profile to the right. On the right leg further back, top on the left knee. Have on the right arm raised toward the chest with hand holding knife used to break cocoa gourd that is in his on the left hand. Wears clothes in shades of blue, green and lilac. The center and on the right, on the floor and near the feet of farmers, cocoa flagged gourds and gourds filled with high blue basket. In the background on the left, man standing in front, carrying the head high basket or tin and facing toward the other two. Wears shirt in ochre with touches of green and pants in shades of blue and ochre. Bare feet. Still in the background, on the left of center and on the right, cocoa trunks detail-laden fruit. Horizontal banding ochre, yellow on the floor, look pooped caused by light falling from the left. Cacao trees and shadows are repeated and are seen in perspective to the bottom of the composition.
