Title
Jesus is Nailed to the Cross, Eleventh Station of the Via Crucis
Description
Composition in light shades of ochre, blue, rose, white and shades earthy, gray, black, red and orange. Smooth texture in the background and spatula usage in the thick white. Figures represented with significant and deliberated deformed expressions. It depicts Jesus nailing to the cross. In the center of the composition, Jesus stretched over large rose cross, in light diagonal from left to right and from top to bottom. Jesus is represented by white spatule spots and slightly contoured in brown. On the left and on the right, two kneeling figures facing back holding hammers, nailing the hands of Jesus on the cross and wearing dark clothing. Light, slightly geometrized background, standing out at the feet of Jesus. On the left, a piece of white cloth and on the right, another brown fabric. The strong contrast of light and dark tones accentuate the drama of the scene.
