Jesus Is Condemned to Death, First Station of the Via Crucis
Description
Composition in gray tones, earthy, blue, yellow, ochre and rose. Smooth, slightly thicker in some regions and marked brushstrokes. It depicts Jesus' trial. In the foreground, on the right, Jesus, standing in profile to the left, using long tunic in yellow tones with geometrical areas. It has long beard and hair, and head over the crown of thorns, and behind yellow halo. It has fallen arms along the body and bare feet. Facial skin, hands and feet bluish tint. Is looking toward Pilate that is in the background, on the left, profile on the right and sitting in what would be a bank that is on a small dais. Pilate wears a long robe on earthy shades; It has the skin of the face, hands and feet also in bluish tint. The face does not reveal defined facial features, folded on the right arm with hand forward and on the left foot more forward than the on the right. In the third level, on the left of center, group of four soldiers standing in front without defined facial features, wear kind of kilt and safe spears upon the right. Background in ochre tones formed by geometrical areas and ground in red earthy tone and rose also in geometrical areas.
