Description
Composition in ochre, earthy, gray, black, red, yellow, blue, green, white and rose. Smooth texture. It depicts the nineteen twenties and founders of the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo gathered under arcades of the inner courtyard of Largo Law School of San Francisco, in São Paulo. The portrayed are just indicated, and some have suggested facial features, a beard, mustache other. They are grouped, occupying almost the entire width of the area of the composition, and one of them is sitting in an armchair, almost back on the left corner of the composition. Still in the foreground, on the right of center, small table covered with towel composed of geometrical areas in various shades, falling to the ground. Seated near the table, six of the portrayed, seeing from the left to the right: one in 3/4 arm chair facing right, with open book resting on her lap; three behind the table, side by side, and the on the left is ahead; and two sitting on a sofa, with the on the left on the nightstand, cross-legged and with his on the right arm on the table and the other on the far right with his legs apart and his on the left arm resting on the couch. In the background, behind the seated group, one sees the other twelve portrayed, all standing side by side, each facing the other profile, more ahead than others. In the background, on the right, part of the college building looking up arcades on the ground floor windows on the first floor and part of the church pediment.
