Title
Construction of Highway I
Description
Composition in gray tones (predominant), black, ochre, blue, and white earthy. Smooth texture. It depicts construction of the Via Dutra in stretch of the Araras Mountains, as if being viewed through a lens, and we see part of a tractor and a worker with a hoe. The predominance of gray tones and contrast of light and dark volumes give the composition photographic characteristics. The scene takes place on the bed of a road under construction, and we see, on the left, the path of a tractor in diagonal from right to left and front to back. To the right of center, a little further on, bust of black worker facing forward, with face to the left wearing wide-brimmed hat, white shirt and holding a hoe halfway up as if ready to ready to cut. More to the right, we see the edge of the road bed with a diagonal curb and further back on the lower plane, part of another road curved behind where there are hills and a small stretch of intense blue sky.
