Description
Composition in dark earthy, black, gray, blue, green, violet and ochre tones. Rough texture. It depicts five men working on a sugar cane plantation. In the foreground, on the left, a man standing in profile to the left, holding a cane burden on his back, legs spread, his right leg more visible than the his left, suggesting he is walking. In the background, on the left, a man is seen crouched over a burden of sugar cane, wearing a hat; on the right, two men, side by side standing in profile to the right, near a sugar cane field. The man ahead is holding a machete in his right hand and his left is holding a sugar cane. On the third level, to the left, a man, partly covered by the foreground figure; he is facing forward, his head bowed, wearing a hat and carrying a burden on his back. Blue sky background.
