His family background; first violin studies; Escola Nacional de Música; first steps as a musician; he is awarded his first prize trip to Europe; concerts in Portugal, Spain and France; meets Portinari for the first time in Paris in 1929; Portinari's first trip and the exchange of their knowledge on painting and music; Portinari and Borgerth briefly share a hotel room in Paris; Borgerth returns to Brazil in the mid-30's; Portinari returns to Brazil in 1931 and paints Borgerth and several other musicians; Mário de Andrade's criticism; close relationship with Portinari in Paris; Portinari visits numerous museums in Paris but doesn't paint; the Café Belas Artes in Rio; his performances as first violinist (in the Teatro Municipal and  Sinfônica Brasileira orchestras) and soloist; Portinari paints Yehudi Menuhin's portrait following his last performance in Rio; Portinari's stay in Paris gives new direction to his work; Portinari and Foujita's friendship; the ’30 Revolution in Brazil; Borgerth and Villa-Lobos together in Paris; Portinari and Villa-Lobos; Portinari visits Professor Basnard in an attempt to show some of his works in Paris; the artistic atmosphere  in Rio in the ’30s.
